Final year work
As promised I have some examples of my final year work. My final major project was based on my time on placement with North East based trend forecasters Trend Bible. Trend Bible in specialises in lifestyle trends for the home and kids lifestyle trends. I was able to gain a wealth of experience during my time there and was able to learn about trend forecasting and help produce a trend book from the initial social and cultural research right through to the finished product.
I really uncovered a passion when i worked at Trend Bible as i find the whole process fascinating and it combines many of my other interests such as creative writing, sourcing beautiful original imagery to create a mood, imaginative copy but also the research stage visiting new and interesting places and seeing the trends reveal themselves before your eyes is a really exciting industry to work in and i hope to in the future.
My final piece of work was to create a Fashion and Beauty book for Trend Bible and not only come up with a full marketing plan and promotions strategy appropriate to the brand but also to create the book in its entirety. I researched trends for a S/S 2011 book and came up with six key themes that filtered down into four key trends for the season, Heirloom, Empyrean, Inheritance and Urban Castaway. Each trend featured mood pages and an overview of what the trend meant for consumers, fashion direction with eight to ten key items all hand drawn by myself as flats, colour direction featuring eight key shades, fabric and print direction all originally sourced and cut into swatches, buttons and trimmings, beauty pages with colour and texture direction. Each trend featured its own model for fashion and beauty inspiration.
Always look on the bright side....
New year new trends. I love looking at the fresh collections of Spring/Summer and 2011 doesn't disappoint. With the influences over the past few years of austerity and make do and mend there is a fresh optimism and a sense of fun coming back into fashion and not a moment too soon. The news is gloom and doom, the weather is cold, VAT and petrol prices rising leave little to be desired so to open up a magazine or view a webpage and see vibrant colour, clashing textures and fabrics, beautiful ornate prints and soft romantics is a wonderful escape.
I have always loved colour in fashion and when a season comes round like S/S 2011 it really excites me. I think optimism will be a key theme throughout the year. I'm pleased to see that my predictions for S/S 2011 within my final year trend book are coming through i will be continuing to make trend predictions for future collections on Trend Scout as well as keeping a look out for anything i find that i think is exciting or interesting.

Happy New Year!
Happy new year everyone! I love New Year sometimes it is more meaningful and poignant and the end of 2010 was certainly that for me. The beginning of 2011 signals what i hope will be a successful year. I feel 2010 was a year of getting on with it but not really moving forward and i think 2011 brings fresh optimism to a lot of people. 2010 was a tough year for me however the high point was graduating with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree after four years of studying Fashion, Media and Promotion at Huddersfield University.
I wanted to post a few pieces of my final year work as I am very proud of what i produced and it demonstrates visually the areas of industry that interest me. My final major project combined the skills i acquired during my time at University with my time on placement at Trend Bible. I chose to work for a trend forecaster as this area of the fashion industry has always fascinated me and i felt by producing my own trend book as my final piece really complimented the two disciplines.
So bear with me I will post up some images of my work soon! and once again i would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and successful new year!x

Welcome to Trend Scout!
Hi i'm Suzi and this is my blog Trend Scout. I love gathering, collecting, taking note of different subjects i see while out and about that i think are inspiring or interesting. It could be a piece of art, clothing, a page in a magazine, the way someone is dressed, graffiti, a window display, a book, a film, the red carpet, high end, street style, anything! if it catches my eye i want to remember it and note it down here.
I'm fascinated by the trend process and how it works so by setting up this blog i hope to bring all these ideas together discuss their influence and hopefully produce some beautiful imagery to compliment it. I hope you enjoy my blog i will be back very soon with my first finds see you soon!
